Full Moon – Wolf Moon
This full Moon appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages. It is also known as the Old Moon. To some Native American tribes, this was the Snow Moon, but most applied that name to the next full Moon, in February.
Strategic, resourceful, and incredibly communicative, the Wolf is a noble mentor for humankind. Wolves have specific protocol and rank within their packs. This observation is a cue to look to community for creative solutions during this full moon. Communicate with those in your pack to help you with your challenges. But don’t break taboo. If you follow specific traditions in social communication, hold to them. In fact, use this full moon to honor traditions of your heritage. Take time to honor your elders too. Tribal rituals should be heeded this time of year. Wolves are vastly expressive. Wolves also have a complex system of body. One look from the Alpha can convey as much power as a physical blow. Use this moon to explore these traits.
So what energy is this particular Wolf Moon bringing according to regular astrology? Well let’s take a look.
This moon brings about modest, unobtrusive, and often rather quiet or shy energy. The type that is content to be in the background or to serve as an assistant, in the supporting role rather than in the lead. It can be a bit nit-picky having you critique yourself a bit too much. You feel drawn to all the minutia and details and get upset when something is not done just so. You are going to be oversensitive to things that aren’t fitting into your personal story the way you see fit. If anything seems messy or out of sorts you may hyper focus on those things in order to bring order back to your personal realm.
You will feel the urge to look before you leap and may hold yourself back from opportunities that have “too much” risk even if that risk has minimal impact. You will also be less likely to ask for help and want to rely solely on your own power and energy resources during this time. Watch your inability to adjust to the emotional give and take in your close relationships. Where this may not usually be a problem it may be you trying to crawl into your safety space emotionally for some needed rest and relaxation, but you need to be cautious of closing others out. You may also find yourself arguing with your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Be cautious about sending out mixed emotions.
Your need for facts and figures will be increased. You may find yourself pulling out puzzles and games to satisfy the need to solve things. You want to look under the surface past what seems superficial in order to see the “real”.
You may feel the urge to be very dramatic, creative, and expressive or perform. You’ll want to be very involved in your own creativity and self-expression, and take great pleasure in developing and using your special talents, whether these are artistic, athletic, or intellectual. You have a strong sense of pride. You may even feel drawn to create a warmer home space in all of your surroundings.
