The Harvest Moon & Eclipse
In years when the Harvest Moon falls in October, the September full Moon is usually known as the Full Corn Moon because it traditionally corresponds with the time of harvesting corn. It is also called the Barley Moon because this is the time to harvest and thresh the ripened barley.
Moon in Pisces:
Tenderhearted and sympathetic energies will be abundant to an unusual degree. Telepathic tendencies will be heightened and you may find you have a deeper understanding of other people’s feelings and needs. Pisces moon brings out extremely compassionate emotions and unwillingness to see suffering at any level. Be careful of your compassionate tendencies, as other may try to take advantage of the softer heart.
With the closeness of the equinox and the lunar eclipse now’s the time to take stock of what’s changed or hopefully improved in your life since the eclipse during the new moon on March 8th. Take time to reflect on all the changes and accomplishments you have made, regardless of how small or trivial they may seem to you. Have a friend help give you a bird’s eye view on how they have affected and improved your life if necessary. It is now time to reap what you sew, as it is the Harvest Moon after all. Since the Harvest Moon is heavily aligned with the upcoming fall equinox, which falls on September 22nd, it just doesn’t signal the changing of the seasons but a time to make preparations for the future. It is also a time to make preparations for the winter holidays, when the Earth’s energies are slower, and the time for family and celebrations start. It is a time of rest and frivolity; a time to gather your stores and your strength in order to begin a new growth cycle.
Whatever soul searching or personal journey you have been on over the past six months; expect to get some last moments of truth and clarity. Use this as a time for letting go and starting over, welcoming new relationships and strengthening long-time romantic connections. The eclipse is a time of change and transition. It is a good time to start a personal project or take on new responsibilities at work, so get those creative juices flowing!
On September 22, we will celebrate the Equinox, a powerful time of solar balance and a time to honor with ceremony and gratitude the rich harvest of your life, a time to begin turning toward the darkening of days and sorting for what we will draw down to nourish our roots not only physically but spiritually. Connect with the trees, the wind, the Earth, the stars, and honor the Sun for its gifts of life.
Also, the before the Equinox, Mercury comes out of retrograde and turns direct again.
