Full Moon – Snow Moon

Published on February 22, 2016 under General Topics
The effects of this moon will be felt until the moon has reached its next new moon stage. February’s full Moon is traditionally called the Full Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February. Hunting becomes very difficult, and so some Native American tribes called this the Hunger Moon. Other Native American tribes called this Moon the “Shoulder to Shoulder Around the Fire Moon” (Wishram Native Americans), the “No Snow in the Trails Moon” (Zuni Native Americans), and the “Bone Moon” (Cherokee Native Americans). The Bone Moon meant that there was so little food that people gnawed on bones and ate bone marrow soup. So what energy is this particular Snow Moon bringing according to regular astrology? Well let’s take a look. It is a moon of questioning and learning, it is young and alive, always alert, curious, flexible and open to new experiences. It brings childlike enthusiasm for anything new and learning will come easily, but with it boredom can always be lurking around the corner. Be careful about having too many irons in the fire as keeping track of them all will become increasingly difficult. You be drawn to seek out changes, mental stimulation, and a more active social life. Some energy will be centered on you becoming more articulate, clever, funny or witty. Extroverts will enjoy meeting and interacting with a variety of different people. No matter how badly you may be feeling, outwardly you may never appear heavy or somber. People may lend themselves to responding to life mentally and objectively rather than emotionally. Furthermore, if you cannot UNDERSTAND something reasonably and logically, then you may find yourself preferring to ignore it, including your own and other people's irrational feelings, desires, and needs. But this moon is also very gentle, impressionable, and receptive -…

The 20 Ways/Assumptions of the Magical World View – Law #2

Published on February 3, 2016 under General Topics
#2 Law of Attention The more evidence one looks for to support a given law, conclusion, or world view the more one will find. World views have inertia. Since we create our world each moment (as discussed above in the Law of World Views), we are constantly maintaining our world view. This is done by means of a recursive internal dialogue of words and symbols with which we constantly edit our perceptions. By rearranging our attention, we rearrange our world view. To quote Lewis Carroll, "What I tell you three times is true."

The 20 Ways/Assumptions of the Magical World View – Law #1

Published on February 1, 2016 under General Topics
#1 Law of World Views The world we perceive is actually the interface (mixture) of the noumenal world (the Tao, the objective reality that is unknowable), and our selves (the subjective). Changing your world view does not change the eternal, real world, but it does change the perceived world. This is important because it is the world we touch, see, and act upon. Changing your world view makes real changes in the world which is real to us. (See, VIII. Law of Reflection.) Because there are an infinite number of ways to perceive the world, there are an infinite number of worlds we may assemble with our awareness. The true underlying reality is unknowable to us as long as we retain the world view of separateness and self. You can become one with the universe but you cannot step back and observe it, because you are in it. You cannot observe a phenomenon without altering it by your mode of perception. There is no such thing as an independent observer. You participate in creating the world by perceiving it.

Full Moon – Wolf Moon

Published on January 23, 2016 under General Topics
The effects of this moon will be felt until the moon has reached its next new moon stage. This full Moon appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages. It is also known as the Old Moon. To some Native American tribes, this was the Snow Moon, but most applied that name to the next full Moon, in February. Strategic, resourceful, and incredibly communicative, the Wolf is a noble mentor for humankind. Wolves have specific protocol and rank within their packs. This observation is a cue to look to community for creative solutions during this full moon. Communicate with those in your pack to help you with your challenges. But don’t break taboo. If you follow specific traditions in social communication, hold to them. In fact, use this full moon to honor traditions of your heritage. Take time to honor your elders too. Tribal rituals should be heeded this time of year. Wolves are vastly expressive. Wolves also have a complex system of body. One look from the Alpha can convey as much power as a physical blow. Use this moon to explore these traits. So what energy is this particular Wolf Moon bringing according to regular astrology? Well let’s take a look. This moon brings about modest, unobtrusive, and often rather quiet or shy energy. The type that is content to be in the background or to serve as an assistant, in the supporting role rather than in the lead. It can be a bit nit-picky having you critique yourself a bit too much. You feel drawn to all the minutia and details and get upset when something is not done just so. You are going to be oversensitive to things that aren’t fitting into your personal story the way you see fit. If anything seems messy or…

My Favorite Things of the Holidays

Published on December 24, 2015 under Asatru Topics
Yule Yule or Yuletide ("Yule time") is a pagan religious festival observed by the historical Germanic peoples, later being absorbed into and equated with the Christian festival of Christmas. Terms with an etymological equivalent to Yule are used in the Nordic countries for Christmas with its religious rites, but also for the holidays of this season. Yule is also used to a lesser extent in English-speaking countries to refer to Christmas. Customs such as the Yule log, Yule goat, Yule boar, Yule singing, and others stem from Yule. Yule is the modern English representation of Old English words indicating the 12-day festival of "Yule" (later: "Christmastide”. The words are thought to be derived from German, Gothic, Old Norse or Norwegian words like Jol or Jul. The noun Yuletide is first attested from around 1475. The word is attested in an explicitly pre-Christian context primarily in Old Norse. Among many others the long-bearded god Odin bears the names jólfaðr (Old Norse 'Yule father') and jólnir (Old Norse 'the Yule one'). Yule begins on Mother Night, (about Dec. 20) the night before the shortest day and the longest night (winter solstices). We honor the beginning of the Sun's return and the breaking of Winter, (which is most noticeable in five days) and is celebrated over a twelve day period. It is a time of the year when our deceased Ancestors are closest to us. Yule is when Jólnir another name for Odinn leads the procession of the Wild Hunt through the sky's with sprits of humans, horses and dogs. This procession occurs during all twelve days of Yule. Twelfth Night (about Jan. 1) culminates the traditional twelve days of Yule. Our Ancestors at this time consecrated a boar to Frey, led it out so everyone present could lay their hand on the…

Winter Solstice

Published on December 21, 2015 under General Topics
Winter solstice is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere this is the December solstice and in the Southern Hemisphere this is the June solstice. The December solstice happens at the same instant for all of us, everywhere on Earth. This year the solstice occurs on Tuesday December 22nd at 04:49 GMT. While it more often than not falls on December 21st, the exact time of the solstice varies each year. In the Northern hemisphere the winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, because it is tilted away from the sun, and receives the least amount of sunlight on that day. However, the earliest sunset does not occur on the solstice, because of the slight discrepancy between 'solar time' and the clocks we use. The shortest day of the year often falls on December 21st, but the modern calendar of 365 days a year - with an extra day every four years - does not correspond exactly to the solar year of 365.2422 days. The solstice can happen on December 20, 21, 22 or 23, though December 20 or 23 solstices are rare. The last December 23 solstice was in 1903 and will not happen again until 2303. For those of us here in America, and on the east coast, this means that the Winter Solstice will occur tonight around 11:49 PM. So what energy can we expect from this Solstice? This energy will be modest, unobtrusive, rather quiet or shy, supporting energy, with nothing over the top or gregarious in nature. But it is far from unassuming. Deep in its underbelly there will be this push for perfection and self-criticism. Hesitation on taking big leaps may be in the forefront. Everything is going to be about…

Your body is a temple, your gifts are to be used, and neither is to be taken advantage of or abused.

Published on July 29, 2015 under General Topics
I am going to be up on my soap box here a bit, but I promised several of my followers that I would address this. I have repeatedly been asked about health, its effects on magic, intuitive abilities, and more. There is a direct correlation and despite the correlation neither dictates being a teetotaler or a vegan. The ultimate end goal is to eat healthily as possible and treat your body a.k.a your temple well. There is a direct correlation of our health to the ability and purity of our gifts. Enjoy yourself, just don’t over indulge. Get plenty of rest; avoid hangovers, processed junk, and fast foods. If you worship at the temple of McDonalds several times a week, it’s going to have an effect. If you worship at the temple of Budweiser, your ability to read someone will be reduced for days depending on how hard you worshiped that particular deity. Does this mean never have fast food or a drink? No, but getting drunk several times a month isn’t going to win you any awards either. This brings me to the bigger question at hand which is the use of our gifts. The ability to practice magic, shamanism, read tarot, work as a medium, be clairvoyant and more are gifts granted to us by the Universe. The Universe is a tricky task master; it expects us to behave above and beyond the standard moral code. We are the trend setters, the examples of achieving enlightenment and spirituality. You can’t do that getting drunk regularly or eating horribly all the time. I get asked if there are people whom I cannot read. The answer is yes. There are also people who cannot read me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being unable to read a particular person. There…
