Deck: Messenger Oracle January: #17 Heed Your Dreams The month of January, will be about setting goals for your future, dreaming beyond your wildest imagination and exceeding your expectations. Your dreams and your aspirations will be the driving factors on how you will approach of the remainder of the year. Everyone and anyone needs to start a dream/manifestation journal if they haven’t already. This journal isn’t going to just be for your dreams; it will be for your goal setting, magical practices, and manifestation work. We are taking a regular journal and turning it into a magical work of art, a book of shadows if you will. Be mindful and careful what you write and record. Be purposeful in your writing. Key phrase: I will use my dream journal to create magic and my world. February: #4 Be Without Malice It is interesting that this card is representing a month we usually associate with love, generally romantic love. Yes Valentine’s Day is generally and overhyped commercialized holiday that does not represent its original intents. The goal for this month is to look at all forms of love. Your role is to practice each and every form of love each and every day. Even when we’re fighting our battles, we must continue to love our enemy. This ensures that we are being the honorable, forthright, eternal beings of light we were meant to be. Key Phrase: I will practice love each and every day. March: # 3 Respect Your Boundaries March is all about setting self-boundaries. It is about self-care, self-love, self-respect and self-preservation. By practicing all of these we allow ourselves to be better people and therefore we’re able to take care of others better. Sometimes setting boundaries with loved ones and family members is the hardest. You will need…

One Card Draw for the week of November 7th, 2016

Published on November 7, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #6 – Change is Unavoidable “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” - George Bernard Shaw “It is change, continuing change, inevitable change that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.” - Isaac Asimov Change is central to our being. Sure, you probably know a person or two who never seems to change, but not all change is swift and fast. Some is slow, unnoticeable, until one day you no longer recognize what you are looking at. Most people don’t like change because it triggers a fear of the unknown. It takes them out of their comfort zone and they would rather hide in their quite cocoon of safety and familiarity. We weren’t born to be stagnant. Even our physical self goes through immense changes throughout life. We were born to be constantly evolving and growing. Growth is change being put to good use. This week look for the opportunities to make changes that will benefit you and all that you serve. Key Phrase for the week: I will embrace and seek out change so that I may grow.

One Card Draw for the week of October 24th, 2016

Published on October 24, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #30 – Nurture All Love Did you know that according to psychologists there are seven major forms or types of love? Many are familiar with the three biblical based forms: Eros, Agape and Philos. Those three are included in the seven. Eros is sexual or passionate love, and is the type most akin to our modern construct of romantic love. The hallmark of philia, or friendship, is shared goodwill. Storge or familial love, is a kind of philia pertaining to the love between parents and their children. Agape is universal love, such as the love for strangers, nature, or God. Ludus is playful or uncommitted love. It can involve activities such as teasing and dancing, or more overt flirting, seducing, and conjugating. Pragma is a kind of practical love founded on reason or duty and one’s longer-term interests. Philautia is self-love, which can be healthy or unhealthy. Of course there is a lot of movement between the different types of love. If you think about it, a healthy person nurtures all the different forms of love in their life. Those who tend to ignore the love of others, even those unknown to them (which I have often called simply being kindhearted) tend to destroy the other loves in their life. A person who is ugly to a stranger or a waitress tends to be ugly to everyone, even their family. Of course you don’t necessarily practice all of these at the same moment. How you treat your boss or coworker can and will filter down into other relationships. It is all interconnected. It is okay to be angry but when you express it you must always make sure that you do so through the love of the person as human who has erred and not as a…

One Card Draw for the week of October 17th, 2016

Published on October 17, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #22 – Let Go of the Old What an excellent card to pair with the Hunter’s Moon and the previous Black Moon we have moved through in the last few weeks. Letting go of the old doesn’t mean losing the lessons, knowledge, or even the memories. What it does mean is letting go of the energetic attachments to things past that may be holding you back from moving forward. Too often, people who come to see me are not having a hard time moving forward because the opportunities are not there; they are having a hard time releasing those old connections and are chaining themselves to energy, ideals, or a belief that no longer serves them. Now is an excellent time to take stock in what you believe in, choose to work with, or maintain energetically. Like the harvester, you may need to take a scythe and cut away that which is no longer fruitful in your life. Key Phrase for the week: I will cut away the energetic chaff that no longer serves me.

One Card Draw for the week of October 10th, 2016

Published on October 10, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #40 – See Yourself in Nature You are a part of the natural world and it is a part of you. You are made up of energy, structures, atoms, molecules, what we call chemicals and compounds, all coming and stemming from nature. Too often we forget those connections on both the large scale and the microscopic scale. To see yourself in nature is to remember where you are in the every evolving realm of the Universe. Some things are bigger than you and some are smaller. Your place is unique unto you. There is no exact carbon copy of how you are exactly made. Sure, there are strong similarities, but we haven’t mapped out every corner of our DNA or our minds. In Shamanism we use animal archetypes to describe people and nature to describe complex ideas. As a Shaman I fully strive to understand the intricate part nature plays within our lives. We are so interconnected that when we fall out of sync, nothing feels right and everything is a struggle. So your goal is to remember to see yourself in the natural world and how you interconnect to every part of it. Key Phrase for the week: I am part of nature and nature is part of me.

One Card Draw for the week of October 3rd, 2016

Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #47 – Trust in Magic I know I have readers out there who don’t necessarily believe in ‘magic’ per se, but the whole Universe is filled with magic. Magic comes in all shapes and sizes, forms and bents, colors and movements. Magic can be strong and violent or soft and meek. It can raise a storm or quiet a sea. There is magic in everyday things that we do; mini rituals so to speak. Prayers are a form of incantation. You are using your energy and your intent sending the words to your God of choice in hopes that he will hear you and answer your request. Simplified? Maybe, but words have power. Words carry more power than we realize. I believe in magic. I believe deep down that we were given a gift, and too many squander it because they feel it is wrong. Magic can be used for both good and bad, but why not be one of the ones that use it for good? Trust in magic. Trust in its ability to heal and manifest wonderful things for all. Key Phrase for the week: I will believe in magic and all its beauty.

One Card Draw for the week of September 26th, 2016

Published on September 26, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #39 - See the Truth What is truth? Is it really the true or actual state of a matter? Is it a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like? It can be described as the state or character of being true. It can refer to honesty, integrity and truthfulness. However, it can also be described as conformity with fact or reality. That is the problem when we are told to see the truth, because the truth can and does change. Most likely our truth is based on conformity with a fact or current reality we have held onto for far too long. It was once taken as fact that the earth was flat. We know differently now. It isn’t easy to look beyond what you might think and feel is the truth. Your goal this week is to let go of perceived truths and really attempt to look past the conformity that you have allowed yourself to assume about something or someone. Be the impartial investigator and look at everything from every angle and allow yourself to take in all aspects of a situation, without passing judgement. It will be far from easy. The exercise itself will be entirely worth it. It is also a good habit to practice. Key Phrase for the week: I will let go of preconceived notions and beliefs in an effort to really see the truth.

One Card Draw for the week of September 19th, 2016

Published on September 19, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #9 – Embrace the Dark What a perfect card for the upcoming Fall Equinox. Embracing the dark does not mean embracing evil as some would think. It is embracing the time of rest and solitude. It is acknowledging that there are times of darkness in each of our lives and these are transitory points as we move into new energies and regrowth. When we think about the upcoming darkening of days through the colder winter months we need to embrace the idea that we lay to rest that which no longer serves us so we have room to grow. If we think about the night and the mysticism that tends to go along with it, this card is also about embracing that which lies beyond the veil. The shadows and the mysteries have much to teach us, and allowing ourselves to study and understand not only the universal shadows but the shadows of ourselves do we become richer and wiser. Key Phrase for the week: I will embrace the dark for in it is knowledge.

One Card Draw for the week of September 12th, 2016

Published on September 12, 2016 under Weekly Readings
Deck: Messenger Oracle Card: #25 – Love That You Are Different Maybe you don’t dance to the same drummer as everyone else. Maybe you like loud colors and wild hair. Maybe you worship something other than the Christian God. Maybe you feel everyone around you all the time. Maybe you ‘sense’ things others do not. I know that I am wildly different than most of the people wandering around me. I know that I have my own tune to which I march too. Be proud of the fact that you are not blindly following what the masses might demand. Be proud of the fact that you are willing to swim against the current in order to be true to yourself. Be proud of the fact that you would rather wear the scars of fighting for who you are deep down rather than conforming and becoming an empty shell. It takes courage and a very strong spirit to stand out in the crowd. Love your differences for they are what make you unique. Key Phrase for the week: I will love all the wild and whimsical parts of who I am.
